The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Nominating and Governance Committee is accepting applications as part of the process to recommend one Independent Director candidate for the USOPC Board of Directors to fill an upcoming vacancy. Independent candidates are sought from the Olympic and Paralympic community and the general public.

The Nominating and Governance Committee is seeking candidates with the qualifications described in the “Position Description and Qualifications” document. Qualified applicants must be persons of the highest personal and professional integrity who have demonstrated exceptional ability and judgment and who will be most effective, in conjunction with other members of the Board, in collectively serving the long-term interests of the USOPC and our athletes. Applicants must meet the specific requirements for independence applicable to Independent Director board seats; these are set out in Section 3.4 of the USOPC bylaws. Further qualifications to serve are set out in Section 3.7 of the USOPC bylaws, also available at TeamUSA.org.

Applicants will be required to complete a thorough background check and conflict of interest questionnaire as a component of the formal process. After reviewing the applications, the Nominating and Governance Committee may conduct in-person interviews with finalists.

Applications of candidates seeking to be considered for the independent director seat will be accepted until February 1, 2021.  Interested candidates should submit a résumé and a letter expressing their interest to Guiselle.Torres@usoc.org.

The USOPC does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, age, orientation, handicap, or veteran status. All qualified applicants will be given equal opportunity.
