Five For Friday: Beach Volleyball
The U.S. Women’s National Team, which is ranked number two in the world, and Brazil, which is ranked fourth, meet Sunday and Tuesday in a pair of exhibition matches in the Anaheim Convention Center Arena in California.
The two-match series between the 2008 and 2012 Olympic finalists is the final preparation prior to the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup, which begins Sept. 5 in Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan.
Joining the U.S. team for both competitions are 2016 Olympians Jordan Larson and Kim Hill at outside hitter, and Foluke Akinradewo and Rachael Adams at middle.
“That kind of experience can be very beneficial for any team, certainly for ours,” said head coach Karch Kiraly.
The matches will be played at 4 p.m. PT Sunday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
It is the first match in Anaheim since the team moved its training headquarters there in 2009.
